How do I get started?

Give us a call at 704-473-1675, or fill out our contact form here. We will talk about your concerns and determine if an evaluation is recommended. From there we will schedule the initial appointment. 

If your child is between the ages of birth to 3 years old, we recommend you contact your local Children's Developmental Services Agency (CDSAs) to determine if your child qualifies for service through the Infant Toddler Program. If your child is found to be eligible for therapy services, Wood SLP Services, Inc. is an approved provider in Rutherford, Cleveland, Polk, Lincoln, Gaston, Burke, and Catawba counties. What is speech therapy and what does a speech therapist do?

Many children need help communicating. This could be due to a speech or language delay or disorder, an illness or accident, or other diagnoses, such as autism spectrum disorder or down syndrome. Speech and language therapy is designed to address speech, language, social skills, play skills, memory and attention, and literacy skills. 

Speech-language pathologists are the professionals who are specially trained and qualified to assess and treat speech and language disorders. Speech-language pathologists use many different therapy techniques that are based on evidence and have been shown to be effective in treating speech and language disorders. 

Does my child need speech, occupational, or physical therapy?

If you or someone who knows your child have expressed concerns, contact Wood SLP Services, Inc. to discuss the speech, language, play, social, motor, visual motor, or sensory skill concerns.

We accept referrals from pediatricians, other professionals, and parents. 

Do you take insurance?

We are in network with the following insurance companies: NC Medicaid, NC Health Choice, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC, United Health Care, Aetna, Cigna, HealthyBlue NC, Amerihealth Caritas NC Medicaid, United Health Care Community Plan of NC Medicaid Plan, Wellcare of NC Medicaid Plan, and Carolina Complete Health NC Medicaid Plan.

 

We also accept private pay clients. If you have another insurance provider, please contact us to discuss the options for submitting your invoices for out-of-network reimbursement.

What is occupational therapy and what does an occupational therapist do?

Many children need help with fine motor, visual motor, and/or sensory integration skills. This could be due to a fine motor delay, an illness or accident, or other diagnoses, such as autism spectrum disorder or down syndrome. Occupational therapy is designed to address fine motor, visual motor, sensory integration, attention, behavioral, and sensory-based feeding skills.

Occupational therapists are the professionals who are specially trained and qualified to assess and treat fine motor delays. Occupational therapists use many different therapy techniques that are based on evidence and have been shown to be effective in treating fine motor delays.

What is physical therapy and what does a physical therapist do?

Many children need help with muscle coordination, strength, and gross motor skills. This could be due to a developmental delay, syndrome, injury, or other diagnosis. Physical therapy is designed to support functional movements that are required for daily activities and promote independence.

Physical therapists are the professionals who are specially trained and qualified to assess and treat delays and disorders related to physical movement. Physical therapists use a variety of evidence-based treatment methods to develop and rehabilitate gross motor skills, reduce pain, and establish functional movement patterns.
